When I was around eight years old I asked my older brother to climb to the top of a tree with me and push me out; something had happened to me, I told him, and I no longer wanted to live. Though this has been so long ago, for many years past (well into adulthood) I continued to suffer from the inevitable fall-out of my childhood experiences and my father’s choices. I was left broken, wounded and ashamed. As an adult I became emotionally and sexually paralyzed, imprisoned in despair, self loathing and resentment. Consequently, my existence was a futile cycle, one I could not break free from; I would gain a little ground and then fall back into despair. Furthermore, I resented life – God - wholeheartedly; I didn’t ask to be cast into the ring of sexual abuse and then told to fight my way out. This wasn’t my choice, but here I was nonetheless. The defeat and hopelessness I felt at eight years old became a familiar friend, one that visited often. Herbert Ward Wilson once said, ‘Child abuse casts a shadow that spans the length of a lifetime.’ He was right, it does, and it so unfair; no reasonable person would disagree with how unfair it is, yet having said that it isn’t an excuse just to float downstream without putting up a fight. Mr. Wilson may have been right about the longevity of its affects but that is not the end of the story; we do not have to die in its grip. I am not saying it is easy but you can overcome,not only to survive but to thrive! This book is for anyone seeking hope, healing and courage to rise from the ashes, victorious.

This is a book for all those who have been victims of abuse. Abuse comes in many shapes...physical, mental, sexual, and it comes from usually someone who you trusted. In this book Kadee takes you into her heart and her world. She walks you through the heartbreak and physical abuse she and her family had to endure. Kadee has found freedom from the nightmare of abuse, she doesn't say that it was easy nor that she doesn't have scars from it but she does give you hope for a happy life through the love of Jesus. For me, a victim of child abuse..there were many times I had to put the book down, cry, pray, and walk away from it for a while. But my friend...Kadee does give you the tools to walk away from your nightmares and gives you hope for happiness and restoration...so hang in there.Praise God Kaydee for your boldness in sharing the bad, the ugly and the good news with others.

Everyone should read this book. I loved it and will read it again. It has been very eye opening to what abuse victims go through not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. I will forever be changed because of it. I am absolutely looking forward to part two!
This book gives a window into a life that no one, child, teen, adult or aged person should ever live. A courageous woman to share her story and hope.
She writes from the heart and with purpose. Abuse comes an many forms and a unfortunately all genders and ages. She shows there can be light at the end of this horrible tunnel.

Though a sad account of what she endured growing up, this is a story of overcoming, healing, and forgiveness. Well written and very down-to-earth, easy reading. The book helps you understand the feelings of guilt a victim endures, even after forgiving. I especially appreciate her willingness to be a part of helping others heal through her prison ministry, sharing her love for Christ, and making her book available to inmates.
Well written and very inspirational. This book is sad, happy and victorious and shows how when life gives a person lemons they can make lemonade. She is a survivor, not a victim and continues to try to help everyone that has traveled this road.

A damaging history of abuse, triumphed by love and grace. Kadee's execution was fantastic; she keeps you locked in till the very end. I would highly recommend this read to anybody that has gone through any sort of emotional trauma, just so they could catch a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel. It's not always bright, but it's there.
Is the best. Kadee is an amazing writer. She always shares her heart and this book shows her passion for wanting others to feel the freedom from abuse, that she feels. Thank you Kadee for not being afraid to share your heart. Thank you for not being afraid to be real and allow your scars to show. I hope everyone will get this book.
